It enables you to keep your entire day-to-day schedule and contact information at hand and in your pocket--no more flipping through multiple pages, looking for scraps of paper or keeping track of to-do lists. And you won't have to enter the same thing twice--once on the computer and once in your planner, as you can easily make updates on your computer and synchronize data to the Palm Z22 in just a minute or two. This handheld features a 32 MB of flash memory (20 MB accessible for file and software storage), Palm OS 5.4 (Garnet), a fast 200 MHz ARM-based processor, and an internal rechargeable battery (that can be charged via the included AC adapter or via the USB cable connected to your PC). Weighing just over 3 ounces and about the same size as a deck of playing cards, the Palm Z22 is compact and stylish with a white front and translucent blue backing. Small enough to fit into any purse, backpack or back pocket, it boasts a bright, 160 x 160-pixel color touchscreen display, which provides easy readability of names, addresses, and appointments. You can even color-code appointments for improved organization, and view and carry pictures of friends and family wherever you go. Operating System and Software The installed Palm OS 5.4 uses the intuitive and easy-to-learn Graffiti 2 writing software to input data into the handheld (as well as an on-screen keyboard). Windows users can synchronize their calendar, contacts, tasks, and notes with Microsoft Outlook. The Palm OS features the following organizer applications: Contacts: Lets you store several addresses for each contact, and with new fields for more phone numbers, multiple e-mail addresses, instant messenger IDs, and Web sites. Calendar: Use the new Agenda view to see upcoming calendar events, tasks due, and important e-mail, and color-code your events to provide an easy way to reference your calendar in the Agenda, Day, Week, and Month views. Take more notes, or synchronize more details from your desktop, in the larger Memos and Notes fields. Tasks: Use tasks with alarms and repeating tasks to set reminders for important commients. It also includes AddIt, a program that includes a variety of applications such as CheckSplit, Chess, Carb Counter and Solitaire. The bonus software CD-ROM has an eBook reader with three books and a dictionary, the powerOne Calculator (perfect for basic and advanced mathematics), and SplashShopper (a helpful shopping list application). defective! I read lots of reviews on this and decided to go ahead and buy it. As people stated, it's a great back-to-basics PDA, which is all I needed. The screen resolution isn't great, but certainly fine. And the only problem I had was working the scroll bar, which tended to accidentally open items on the screen. I'm not sure if it was related to the resolution issues or if there was some design glitch. It was nice and light and small, and I really liked it. Until 3 months into owning it, it died suddenly and without reason when I went to re-charge it. It's dead as a doornail. It wasn't even completely 'spent' when I went to re-charge, just a lowish battery. I hooked the re-charger to my computer as I had done countless times before. I don't know why or what happened this last time. There doesn't seem to be a re-boot button as there is on more expensive models. I tried pressing the button for a long time, I tried synching, I tried accessing it from the Palm software on my computer. Nothing worked. Now I'm dreading trying to deal with Palm (assuming I can find my paperwork from Amazon), which I know from experience is a nightmare. I say pass on this one, or buy at your own risk.
low resolution, and slow details and colors are hard to distinguish when challenging applications and programs in use. Touch screen has a long response time. Don't buy "brain trainer" for z22, you will be frustrated by the slow response time and low resolution. The alarm signal on max is so quiet that you will not hear it being on a busy street or holding that cluncy palm in a pocket or backpack. Battery life has a long time only when used with calendar app. Chess trainer uses battery quickly. Don't trust those praising voices, these are sellers and wholesellers. Do not buy it, it is not worth the money.
Do not buy anythiing from Palm I purchased a LIFEDRIVE from Palm and I was immediately thrilled with it and I rated it 5 stars. I purchased a metal protective case for it and I purchased a special remote alpha/numeric keypad. I thought it was the greatest of all the Palm devices I had ever purchased! Having left a positive feedback on this purchase I am no longer allowed to make any further comments. But now I have lost ten years of vital data. I had been buying Palm products every since they had a memory of only half a megabyte. Now I have lost all personal and business information that I acquired over all these last ten years. And when I call them help for they demanded money to simply look into the problem saying they would not be responsible for the cost of any lost data.
